The kids have been on Mid-Winter break this week.
I have a bazillion broken crayons. So we decided to melt them and give them a second life. We spilled one of the melted cups on the ground and all over the fridge. Thank heavens for the invention of the magic eraser, which picked up ALL OF IT. Yay! Unfortunately a T-shirt did not survive the accident. This was a learning experience. I've melted crayons and I'm not sure I'll ever do it again....maybe.
I have another idea that might work better.
The girls divided them into color schemes of their choice.
The painful task of removing the wrapper. Although it makes for a pretty picture.
And silly me forgot to take a picture of the finished project. And that explains why I would try my other idea before scratching this idea. By the end of the year I have tons of broken crayons. Melting crayons is a great solution. I want to like it...the other solution is bottom of the garbage can. So I think I'll try it one more time. I just don't want to spill again. That was crazy.
We were very fortunate to get snow. The kids have taken full advantage of sledding. We have a pretty steep hill that is just PERFECT for sledding. I think everyone had a big tumble and thought their arm or leg was broken, but all Mom had to do was look it over, give it her "No, I think your alright" and off down the hill for another run they went.
-We watched MegaMind last night while eating homemade Carmel popcorn being warmed by the fire.
-Our family got a betta fish today. History. It's our first pet. It's rainbow colored. I hope it survives Savanah. (fingers crossed)
-We've had fun playing WipeOut on the Wii.

I've been doing pretty good at keep up with the blog. Inspired by my cousin Cindy who posted once a day all last year. I'm not committing to anything, but I'm having fun. Tonights post might be a stretch. I figure I'm going to have to take my camera with me everywhere to have enough to post about.
Fourth graders learn and play recorders for music. Owen has really taken to this. He has earned his black belt, which is the highest level. Our house constantly has the recorder in the background. I love to see him get excited about this so he can play to his heart content.
His best friend often brings his when coming over so they can have a recorder jam session. 
It's official! I am in the nursery. Only the first hour. I've been substituting on and off for a while. Of all the callings I've held this is one of my favorites. When Brad was in the bishopric I'd always hint to him, nursery is where I want to be. But the time was never right.
